Few things excite me more than shooting a proposal. When Kohl submitted an inquiry, I was thrilled at the opportunity to capture a truly special and intimate moment for the couple. Kohl mentioned his desire in re-creating the iconic scene from ‘The Notebook’, his girlfriend’s favorite movie. I said, “say less”. And we got to work planning Emily’s dream notebook-inspired proposal at Cypress Gardens.
The two were traveling from Georgia to celebrate their anniversary in Charleston for the weekend. So, I made it my mission to kick start their vacation with the best photographs possible. Over the next couple of months we discussed logistics and formulated a plan. This included securing the boat rental and finalizing timelines. Back and forth, Kohl and I conversed and prepared to ensure the proposal went as smoothly as possible.
Kohl trusted me with selecting the exact spot for the proposal. He’d previously told Emily that he was planning on hiring a photographer to document their time at Cypress Gardens.
Two feet securely planted on land was best for the vision. I led the couple down a walking path to a gorgeous spot with beautiful light. Once I’d perfectly positioned the couple, I gave Kohl “the nod” and captured the magic unfold as he got on one knee.
The next hour was spent discovering the garden’s hidden coves, marveling at God’s creating and celebrating these two’s love. It was an incredible day these two will remember forever. I’m honored to have documented it for them to cherish. Now, scroll down to view a snippet of what we captured together! Congratulations to Emily & Kohl!
The engagement session took place at: Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner, Charleston, South Carolina.
