A Hampton Park Portrait Session | The Taylor Family

I am a big believer that a) updating family portraits every year or so is important and b) you never age out of photoshoots.

When my sister inquired about a portrait session as a Mother’s Day gift for her in-law, I thought it was a great idea (and not because I was making a sale). Trish, (my sister’s mom in law) had off-handedly mentioned wanting updated pictures now that the family had grown (by four extra kiddos). So my sister knew just the right Charleston Family Photographer to go to 🙂

Everyone deserves their time in front of the camera. A moment to shine. Family portraits are a great opportunity to press pause and enjoy where each family member is in life. Regardless of age.

Photoshoots are quite literally freezing a moment in time.

Remember growing up when your parent or a loved one would measure your height? You’d press your back against the edge of a door frame, trying to stand as straight as possible as they drew a line from where your head hit the wood. Then, they’d mark the spot with your name, age and date.

This is how I like to think of a family portrait session. Together, we’re documenting another mark on the door frame. We’re keeping a record of each milestone. The new tooth and the new smile wrinkle. The new lock of hair and the new patch of gray hair. The little ones may grow bigger and so does your admiration for them.

Extended family sessions are an amazing chance to capture EVERYONE. We’re documenting the young, the mature, and everything in between.

(These sessions are also a great time to get those grandmas who are typically taking photos on their phones and the grandpas who are avoiding being in the limelight).

I had the pleasure of spending a gorgeous Spring afternoon with the Taylor Family playing in Hampton Park. The kids chased each other as parents stood off to the side laughing at their children’s funny expressions and squeals of excitement. It was a great time. Take a peek of what we captured.

The family session took place at: Hampton Park in Charleston, South Carolina.
